Rugby World Cup Betting Markets

Following South Africa’s victory in 2023, we’ll be keeping our eye on the Springboks to see if they can make it three World Cup victories in a row when they take to the field Down Under.

South Africa has now won the trophy four times, so they will hope to become the first nation to win rugby union’s biggest prize five times in 2027.

You can bet on the World Cup in the following ways:

Outright Betting

Begin with an outright bet on the tournament before a ball is kicked or passed in anger. This straightforward market lets you bet on the team you think will win the next World Cup.

Will England surprise a few and go all the way? Or will Australia use home advantage to great effect? Back your winner of the next Rugby World Cup at Parimatch.

Check the odds at the top of this page for the current favourites. South Africa, France, New Zealand, Australia, England, and Ireland are all in with a shout of winning the next World Cup.

Match Betting

You can bet on every World Cup fixture at Parimatch from the first round until the final. Here are some of the different ways to bet on each match:

  • Match winner: Bet on the team you think will win a specific match in the Rugby World Cup.
  • Handicap: This wager levels the playing field and lets you back the underdog with a head start or the favourite with a virtual deficit. When used well, it can help you access better odds.
  • Total points: Rather than backing a winner of a World Cup match, bet on the total number of points you think will be scored in the game, over or under a specific number.
  • Try scorer: Bet on the first try scorer in a match. You may also back a player to score a try at any time in a World Cup clash.

Live Betting

You can also wait until World Cup fixtures begin before making your selections, thanks to our wide range of in-play markets. Put your research to good use and back the first player to score a try, who you think will win the first half, and how many points will be scored in the second.

Rugby World Cup Previous Winners

South Africa were the Rugby World Cup champions in 2019. They beat England in a memorable final in Yokohama to secure their third World Cup win and dethrone back-to-back champions, the All Blacks.

They followed their Japanese triumph with a superb showing in France four years later, defeating New Zealand 12-11 in a closely fought final at the Stade de France.

Whether they can win again in 2027 remains to be seen, but don’t rule them out. Below is a table of the previous winners and runners-up of the World Cup since the turn of the century:
