England and Wales have won the championship 39 times, dating back to its inception in 1883. Since 2000, England and France have both won seven Six Nations trophies and are the most successful sides in the tournament’s recent history.
Since 2000, France and Wales have won the Grand Slam on four occasions, while Ireland have won it three times. Despite winning the Six Nations seven times, England have only won the Grand Slam twice in the modern era.
Scotland and Italy have never won the Six Nations, but Scotland did win the Five Nations trophy before the championship’s expansion, most recently in 1999.
In the Six Nations era, Italy have received the most Wooden Spoons, while England and Ireland are the only nations to have avoided a bottom-placed finish.
