Darts is a sport that comes with its own lingo. Here's a breakdown of what different terms mean:

• The Big Fish - a 170 check out.
• Shanghai - when a player scores on a single, a double and a triple on the same number in one round.
• 9 Dart Finish - Also known as a 9-darter, this is when a player completes a game of 501 in 9 darts - the minimum possible.
• Bed and Breakfast - a score of 26 by hitting a single 5, a single 20 and a single 1 in a round. The term comes from the fact that a bed and breakfast used to cost two shilling and sixpence in England.
• The Mad House - this is the last chance a player has before they go bust. They need to hit a double 1 to win. A single 1 and they're out.
• Carpentry Darts - when a player hits the wood beside the board and completely misses.
• Dartitis - This can be a symptom of ending up in the madhouse. This is when a player's nerves can throw them off their game.
• Bucket of Nails - when all 3 of a player's darts hit the single 1.
• Route 66 - when a player reaches a score of 66 with 3 darts, it's called a route 66.
• That's darts - a comment often used in this game whenever something unpredictable happens.
• Right House, Wrong bed (Right Church, Wrong Pew) - When a player hits a double or triple but on an unexpected number.

• Outright: Back the player you think will win any major darts tournament before or during the event. Back Littler, Humphries, van Gerwen, and others.
• Set betting: Set betting in darts involves predicting the exact final score in sets, offering higher odds but greater risk than match betting.
• Most 180s: This is a bet on the player who hits the most maximum scores (180s) during a darts match or tournament. You can also bet on the total 180s (over/under).
• Player to score highest checkout: Pick the player who will achieve the highest checkout score in a match, such as a 170 finish.
• Nine-dart finish: Nine-dart finish betting involves wagering on whether a perfect leg (nine darts) will be achieved during a match or entire tournament.

Darts World Championship Betting

The PDC World Darts Championship was famously dominated by Phil “The Power” Taylor, who won 16 World Championships during his career. Since Taylor’s retirement in 2018, this competition has been much more open, leading to some fantastic historic moments in darts.
 
The PDC World Darts Championship runs from mid-December to January and tops off the year. Over two weeks, 96 players take to the oche at Alexandra Palace to compete for £2,500,000 in prizes, with £500,000 for the winner.

Place an outright bet on this year’s Darts World Championship at Parimatch, with Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, and Michael van Gerwen among the favourites.

Premier League Darts Betting

Premier League Darts gets the darts season off to a flyer. The competition runs from February to May yearly, with weekly events until the grand final at the O2 Arena.

A £1,000,000 prize pool is shared, with £275,000 for the winner. The two Lukes have dominated affairs in recent seasons, with Littler winning in 2024 and Humphries winning in 2025. Will either of the UK’s top darts players win the Premier League again in 2026?

World Grand Prix Darts Odds

The World Grand Prix is a special darts tournament with a unique double-in, double-out format. It’s usually hosted in Dublin, Ireland, but has switched to Coventry and Leicester in England for the last few seasons.

Of all the pros still competing, Michael van Gerwen is the Grand Prix specialist, with six wins between 2012 and 2024, though he hasn’t won the title since 2022. Belgian Mike De Decker surprised everyone by defeating Luke Humphries in the 2024 final to secure £600,000 in prize money.

World Matchplay Darts Betting

World Matchplay Darts is one of our favourite summer events. Thirty-two of the world’s top darts players head to the oche at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool to contest the Phil Taylor Trophy.

Luke Humphries won his first World Matchplay title in 2024, a year after Nathan Aspinall achieved the same feat. Intriguingly, no man has defended his World Matchplay crown since Michael van Gerwen won back-to-back in 2015 and 2016, so this is always one of the most open and exciting tournaments to bet on.
