When and Where is the 2025 Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe?

The 2025 Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe is scheduled for the 4th and 5th October 2025. Sponsored by Qatar, the race will be held at the famous Longchamp racecourse in Paris.

Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe Prize Money

The Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe is the seventh-richest turf race in the world and the tenth-richest race on any surface, with a starting purse of €5,000,000. The winner takes home €2,857,000, signifying why this race is so popular on the European circuit.

Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe Format, Entrants, and Past Winners

Referred to simply as the “Arc” this race is open to thoroughbreds of all ages. It’s run over a distance of 2,400 metres and is a testing right-handed turf track that sees the best horses in the world compete for the huge prize pool.

The first race was run on Sunday 3 October 1920, and it has been held most years since at Longchamp, though it moved to Chantilly in 2016 and 2017 due to renovations in Paris.

No horse has won the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe more than twice. In the 21st century, only two horses have managed this feat – Treve in 2013 and 2014 and Enable in 2017 and 2018.

The legendary Frankie Dettori is the leading jockey in Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe history, winning six times on board Lammtarra (1995), Sakhee (2001), Marienbard (2002), Golden Horn (2015), and Enable (2017 & 2018).

The Andre Fabre stable boasts the most Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe wins in history with eight between 1987 and 2019. Fabre’s most recent win came in 2019 when Waldgeist rode to victory in Paris.

Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe Betting Markets

There are multiple ways to bet on the Arc de Triomphe with Parimatch. Check out our most popular markets below:

Ante Post Market

The Ante Post market is the first place to go for Arc de Triomphe betting odds early in the horseracing season. The Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe Ante Post odds include all potential entries in France’s most illustrious flat horse race. For an Ante Post wager to pay out, you must back the eventual winner; it’s that simple.

Remember that by taking Ante Post odds, your stake is at risk no matter what. Even if your selection doesn’t go on to be entered into this year’s Arc de Triomphe, your wager will still be considered a loser.

Each-Way Market

Huge races like the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe can be unpredictable at the best of times. That’s why many bettors like to use the Each-Way market to spread their risk on selections.

When you bet on Arc de Triomphe horses Each-Way, you’re effectively placing a two-part bet. One bet on a horse to win and another on the horse to place. We usually pay out on three places for Each-Way bets in the Arc de Triomphe, so your horse only needs to finish in the top three to win.

Arc de Triomphe Recent Winners

One of the biggest recent shocks in Arc de Triomphe history was the 2021 victory of four-year-old German Torquator Tasso. A rank outsider in the Arc de Triomphe racing odds pre-off at 80/1, Torquator Tasso made easy work of the heavy ground to send shockwaves through European horseracing.

Only eight horses have managed to win the Arc de Triomphe twice. Enable was the latest to achieve this feat in 2017 and 2018, with Frankie Dettori on board. Enable attempted the hat-trick in 2019, but Waldgeist had too much in the home straight, and she toiled in the heavy ground in 2020 too.

Who won the 2024 Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe?

Bluestocking, under Rossa Ryan, romped home to win the 2024 Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe after a starting price of 5/1. It marked the Ralph Beckett stable’s first win at Longchamp and a first win also for owner Juddmonte.
