Formula 1 Season Format & Races

Most Formula 1 seasons run from March to December, with up to 24 races scheduled throughout the year. Many circuits have multi-year contracts, while others rotate in and out of the calendar to keep things interesting.

The most iconic F1 races, such as Monaco, Silverstone, and Monza in Italy, are mainstays, while newer tracks like those in Las Vegas and Saudi Arabia are gaining popularity among fans.

Each constructor team enters two drivers per race, and they receive points based on the finishing positions of their drivers. The top three drivers receive 25, 18, and 15 points, respectively.

The driver and constructor at the top of the standings at the end of the F1 season in December will win the championship.

F1 Betting Markets

At Parimatch, we offer competitive F1 odds for every race. Here are your Formula 1 betting options:

Grand Prix Betting

Back the driver you think will win every F1 Grand Prix at Parimatch. We encourage you to check the latest odds in the week before the race before picking your winner.

If you can’t decide on the winner, you can place an each-way Grand Prix bet. If your chosen driver doesn’t win but finishes on the podium, you’ll receive a 1/5 payout.

Drivers’ Championship Betting

At any stage of the Formula 1 season, you can bet on the driver you think will win the championship. Remember, the F1 champion is the driver who accumulates the most points from all the Grand Prix races combined, from Las Vegas to Silverstone.

You can pick your F1 champion before the first race or up until the final race of the campaign. That said, the sooner you pick your winner, the better the odds are likely to be.

Back British stars Lando Norris, George Russell, and Lewis Hamilton as they compete for the ultimate prize in motorsport.

Constructors’ Championship Betting

Another option is to bet on the winner of the constructors’ championship. Like with the drivers’ championship, you can place this outright bet at any stage of the Formula 1 season.

However, bear in mind that the constructor receives two sets of points at the end of every Grand Prix, so you’re essentially betting on two drivers if you enter this market.

As such, it’s even more important to do your research and consider the quality of the cars and drivers before making your selections. Then, bet on McLaren, Ferrari, Mercedes, or any of the other teams to end the season on top.

F1 Betting Strategy & Expert Tips

Now we’ve covered the basics, we want to leave you with some betting tips that will help to inform your Formula 1 betting strategy this season:

  • Understand the track: Every F1 circuit is unique. Some encourage high speed, while others are technical with sharp corners. Match the track layout to each driver’s skillset before picking your winners.
  • Historical performance is key: Consider how your chosen driver has performed at this particular track in previous F1 seasons. Some drivers excel at specific circuits and struggle at others. This knowledge can significantly boost your F1 betting strategy.
  • Study practice sessions & qualifying: The practice sessions help gauge how a driver is likely to perform in the actual race. You should also watch the qualifying and consider which driver is in pole position at the start of the Grand Prix.
  • Look at current form: Check the current standings and consider which drivers are in form. Look at recent podium finishes to see if someone lower down the rankings has been performing particularly well going into this race.

More generally, bet with your head, not your heart. If you’re a fan of a specific F1 team or have an affinity with a particular driver, it might not necessarily be the best option to back them.
