IPL Betting Odds and Markets

It took Royal Challengers Bengaluru 18 attempts to win one IPL. They needed only another year to win the next. When the league returns for season number 20, RCB will be chasing something nobody has managed before: three titles in a row.

The IPL odds above are live. Squads still have to be reshaped and fixtures have not landed. An auction buy, injury or run of results can move the prices, so return to the market rather than trusting a figure saved weeks earlier.

Below, we untangle the dates, the route to the final and the bets you may find. Today's wider schedule sits in cricket betting.

When Is the 2027 Indian Premier League?

Do not write the dates in ink just yet. The complete IPL 2027 fixture list has not been released, and the window discussed inside the BCCI has already moved once.

Franchises were originally told to expect 14 March to 30 May. In June 2026, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia revealed a different aim: start around 10 March and wrap up by 15 May, clear of more extreme heat and pre-monsoon weather.

For now, 10 March to 15 May is the useful guide. We still need the board to confirm the opener, every venue and the playoff programme.

The match count brings the same warning. Although expansion to 84 games was once planned, IPL 2026 stayed at 74. Nothing should be treated as final until the new schedule appears.

Indian Premier League Teams

No new badge is waiting at the gate. These ten franchises are due back:

  • Chennai Super Kings
  • Delhi Capitals
  • Gujarat Titans
  • Kolkata Knight Riders
  • Lucknow Super Giants
  • Mumbai Indians
  • Punjab Kings
  • Rajasthan Royals
  • Royal Challengers Bengaluru
  • Sunrisers Hyderabad

The names stay put, but their squads certainly do not. Retentions and trades come first, then the auction and inevitable late replacements. One signing can repair a weak middle order. One departure can leave a side hunting for a finisher or a bowler trusted with the 20th over.

How Does the IPL Format Work?

The cricket itself is the easy part to follow. Both teams get one innings and, wickets permitting, 20 overs. No bowler can take more than four of them. The larger score wins, with a Super Over available when the two totals finish level.

The path to the final was less obvious. IPL 2026 split 70 league fixtures across the field, leaving every club with 14 chances to collect points. The groups organised who played whom, but did not create separate tables.

That setup was not a full home-and-away round robin. Some pairs met once, others twice. A victory still paid two points, and net run rate separated clubs when their totals matched.

Only four survived the cut. This is how the 2026 route worked:

  1. The leading pair contested Qualifier 1. Win it and the final was next.
  2. Third and fourth entered the Eliminator with no safety net.
  3. Qualifier 2 matched the first game's loser against the Eliminator survivor.
  4. One final place remained, opposite the Qualifier 1 winner.

That second life made a top-two finish far more valuable than third or fourth. The IPL can rearrange its groups between seasons, so the eventual 2027 rules take priority over this explanation of the last edition.

What Is the IPL Impact Player Rule?

An IPL team sheet is not quite the final XI. Each side also nominates possible replacements, and one of them may enter as the Impact Player. Unlike an ordinary substitute fielder, he can bat or bowl.

That extra move can stretch the batting order or strengthen the attack. A specialist batter can do his work first, then make way for a bowler.

One brake remains. No team may use more than four overseas players, so the replacement must fit that limit. The rule is due back in 2027, subject to final playing conditions.

A substitute is therefore relevant to player betting, while a starter may leave the action halfway through. Read the participation terms and wait for the confirmed names.

Who Are the IPL 2027 Favourites?

RCB own the strongest opening argument because they have just answered every question twice. First came the emotional breakthrough in 2025. Then came a successful defence and the chance to chase the league's first three-peat.

Gujarat came closest to stopping them, reaching another final four years after a title-winning debut. Hyderabad and Rajasthan also made the playoffs. Mumbai and Chennai missed that group, but five trophies apiece keep both in any serious discussion.

Plenty can disturb that early picture. The auction is still to come, overseas availability changes and injuries rarely ask permission. Use the IPL winner market above for the current order. A shorter price only records the market's judgement at that moment.

Who Won IPL 2026?

Five wickets and 12 deliveries remained when Kohli swung the last ball of IPL 2026 over the rope. His unbeaten 75 had carried Bengaluru to 161 for five, past Gujarat's 155 for eight, and made one title into two.

It was a remarkable change in fortune. Three lost finals and 17 empty seasons came before the 2025 breakthrough. Captain Rajat Patidar then oversaw a successful defence, something previously achieved only under MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma.

The player prizes went elsewhere. Rajasthan's 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi collected the Orange Cap after a 776-run campaign. Kagiso Rabada's 29 wickets for Gujarat put the Purple Cap in his hands.

Most Successful Teams in IPL History

Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians

Neither team owns the record outright. Chennai reached five through victories in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023. Mumbai's matching set came in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020.

Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru

Kolkata's wins in 2012, 2014 and 2024 place the Knight Riders next on three. Bengaluru have only two, although both are far more recent.

Other IPL Champions

Four other trophies are split four ways. Rajasthan own the inaugural 2008 crown, Deccan Chargers won in 2009, Hyderabad prevailed in 2016 and Gujarat announced themselves with the 2022 championship.

Main IPL Betting Markets

The betting does not begin and end with the champion. It may follow two months of cricket, one evening, a team's innings or a particular player. What is offered will change, and the market wording always controls settlement.

IPL Winner Odds

The outright market asks which franchise will lift the trophy. It may remain open during the competition, with results, injuries and the route through the table moving each team's price.

To Reach the Final or Playoffs

A team can reward this selection without becoming champion. Be careful with the label, though. A top-two finish, any playoff place and a place in the final are not interchangeable.

Match Winner

Here, the wider title race disappears. Only one fixture counts, and even the outright favourite may carry the bigger match price on a difficult night. If rain cuts the game short, turn to the settlement rules.

Top Tournament Batter

This is the season-long race for runs and, ultimately, the Orange Cap. An opener usually sees more balls than a finisher, while selection and playoff progress decide how many innings are available.

Top Tournament Bowler

The Purple Cap rewards the leading wicket taker. New-ball bowlers attack before batters settle, while death specialists work when the batting side is taking greater risks. Selection, venue and matches played can all shape the final total.

Player Runs and Wickets

A match market may set a line for one batter's runs or one bowler's wickets. Check the confirmed line-up and possible Impact Players first. Batting position affects opportunity, while a bowler's role affects the overs he is likely to receive.

Team and Innings Totals

Totals betting asks whether a team, innings or full match lands above or below the displayed line. Venue, pitch, boundary size and both attacks can affect the number. So can evening dew.

Most Sixes and Boundary Markets

Sixes, fours and total-boundary markets can apply to a player, one team or the full match. Ground dimensions matter, but so do bowling plans and the match situation.

In-Play IPL Betting

Once play begins, available prices can react to wickets, partnerships, the required run rate and overs remaining. The in-play betting section shows which IPL markets are currently open.

Score feeds and live pictures do not always arrive together. Check the match state displayed beside the market before confirming a live selection.

What Can Change IPL Betting Odds?

Auction, Trades and Replacements

An early outright price may relate to an unfinished squad. The auction can add a missing opener or death bowler, while poor balance leaves too much work for a few stars.

Player Availability

A big overseas signing is less valuable if international duty removes him after six games. Fitness and workload calls can do the same.

Form and Net Run Rate

Fourteen league matches leave little space for a slump. Heavy results also affect net run rate, which can separate teams level on points.

Venue, Pitch and Boundaries

India does not offer one type of pitch. The ball may hurry through at one ground and grip for spin at the next, with another set of boundary dimensions waiting there too.

Toss and Dew

Evening dew can make the ball harder to control, while a chasing side knows the exact run rate required.

Team News and the Impact Player

The starting side does not tell the whole story. Check the named substitutes and likely Impact Player, especially before taking a player-performance price.
