Tyson Fury is a former two-time heavyweight world champion with some of the most memorable scalps in modern boxing. Following heated rivalries against Derek Chisora and Deontay Wilder, and back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, the Gypsy King returned from retirement in April 2026 with a comeback win
and now has his sights set on a long-awaited domestic showdown with Anthony Joshua.
Tyson Fury is widely regarded as one of the best heavyweight boxers ever. Known among his fans as “The Gypsy King,” Fury has held multiple heavyweight titles across his career, including unified titles between 2015 and 2016.
One of his most memorable victories came in 2015 when he defeated Wladimir Klitschko in a stunning upset to become unified heavyweight champion. He went on to defeat Deontay Wilder in their 2020 rematch to claim the WBC title, becoming only the third heavyweight boxer in history to hold The Ring title twice.
Fury's record speaks for itself. In 38 professional fights, the Gypsy King has 35 wins (24 by KO), one draw, and two losses, both coming against Oleksandr Usyk in 2024. He returned to winning ways in April 2026, claiming a unanimous decision over Arslanbek Makhmudov on his comeback at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Before Usyk, Fury had well-documented rivalries against Wilder and Chisora, facing both men three times in some of the most-viewed heavyweight bouts in history.
Fury’s first fight against Chisora took place in 2011 at Wembley Arena. Fury won by unanimous decision, despite Chisora being the heavy favourite. The rematch occurred three years later, in 2014, at ExCeL London. Fury changed to a southpaw stance to defeat Chisora, who was pulled in the tenth.
His third and final fight against Chisora came when the Gypsy King returned to the ring. The trilogy bout occurred at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in October 2022. For the third time, Fury defeated Chisora, winning with a tenth-round KO in front of 60,000 fans.
Fury and Wilder met for the first time in December 2018. The fight ended in a controversial split draw at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, with Wilder retaining his WBC title despite Fury rising from a brutal 12th-round knockdown that many thought would end the fight.
The eagerly anticipated rematch took place in February 2020, with both men weighing in at the heaviest of their careers. The fight was stopped midway through the seventh, with Fury inflicting significant damage to Wilder and claiming the WBC heavyweight title.
The final match in the trilogy took place in October 2021, following several delays. In a fight widely regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight bouts of the modern era, Fury was knocked down twice but recovered to stop Wilder via 11th-round KO, setting up his next chapter against Ukraine's Oleksandr Usyk.
Usyk became the first man to defeat Fury in the ring at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh on 18 May 2024. The fight went the distance, with Usyk winning by split decision to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era. Fury suffered a ninth-round knockdown but rallied late, with the bout going down as one of the most thrilling heavyweight title fights in recent memory.
The rematch took place at the same venue on 21 December 2024, with Usyk again proving the better man. All three judges scored the bout 116-112 for the Ukrainian, handing Fury his second consecutive defeat by unanimous decision. Days later, Fury announced his retirement from boxing.
After 16 months away from the ring, Fury returned in April 2026 to face hard-hitting Russian contender Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in front of more than 64,000 fans. Fury controlled the bout from the middle rounds onwards, winning by unanimous decision (120-108, 120-108, 119-109) and shaking off the ring rust in dominant fashion.
With the comeback win secured, Fury immediately turned his attention to a long-awaited domestic clash with Anthony Joshua, a fight that has been talked about for nearly a decade. After Joshua's own warm-up bout against Kristian Prenga in July 2026, the all-British blockbuster has been confirmed for later in 2026 under Riyadh Season, set to stream globally on Netflix.
