Hi-Lo Blackjack is an RNG-based video blackjack casino game from Realistic Games. The title is played in a sleek gaming environment with up to three hands possible per game round. It follows standard blackjack game rules with the addition of the exciting hi-lo side bet, giving you a second chance to win even if your hand doesn’t beat the dealer for the main bet.

Back to the title: the game pits you directly against the house, with an objective to finish the round with a hand closer to 21 points than the dealer without exceeding 21 points and ‘busting out’ of the game.
Cards are valued based on their face value, with Jack, Queen, and King worth 10 points and Aces 11 or one, depending on what’s best for your hand.
To start your game, choose your chip value in the chip selector and lay your bet/s by tapping the bet boxes on the table in front of you. Then hit deal to receive your cards. You will receive 2 face-up cards, while the dealer will receive one face-up and one face-down.
You will be given several play options depending on the cards down: either hit to receive another card, stand to stick with what you have, double down to double your bet, or insurance and split in specific circumstances.
Once you have played, if you are still in the game (i.e., not over 21 points), the dealer reveals their face-down card and plays accordingly, always standing a hand worth 17 points. Once the dealer has taken their shot, hands are compared, and payouts are awarded accordingly.
Splitting your hand is offered when you receive two equal-ranking hands—you can split the pair, place the same wager on the second hand, and then play each hand separately. You can only split your hand once, and split aces do not have a double-down option.

There are a few possible outcomes to a game of blackjack, with payouts awarded in this title as per the paytable below:
Hand | Payout |
Blackjack | 3:2 |
Player Wins | 1:1 |
Tie | Push |
Insurance | 2:1 |
Even Money | 1:1 |
This blackjack variant has two features or side betting options, which add a further layer of excitement to your gameplay experience. The first is the insurance bet, and the second is the Hi-Lo bet, which is independent of the outcome of the main game round.
If the dealer’s upcard is an ace at the start of the game round, you can take the insurance side bet. Insurance is when you bet that the dealer will have a natural blackjack (21 points from an ace and a 10-value card), which will pay out 2:1 if it turns out to be the case.
The Hi-Lo side bet applies to your initial two cards. This is an entirely separate play, where you are betting on whether your second card will be higher or lower than the first card received.
You must place a bet in the corresponding box on the table to activate the Hi-Lo bet, which can activate on multiple hands across the round.
The card ranking for the hi-lo bet is based on the point values displayed on the cards. Jack, Queen, and King are worth 11, 12, and 13 points, respectively, and Ace is worth zero points.
The paytable below shows the payouts you can expect from the hi-lo side bet for hands both with and without Aces:
Hands with Aces | |
Hand | Payout |
Any Blackjack hand | 1:1 |
First card Ace, second card 2 – 9 | 1:1 |
Pair of Aces | Push |
First card 2 – 9, second card Ace | Lose |
Hands without Aces | |
Hand | Payout |
Correct Hi-Lo bet | 1:1 |
Incorrect Hi-Lo bet or pair | Lose |
