Recent Winners at the Cheltenham November Meeting

The biggest races at Cheltenham’s November meeting are the Grade 2 Steeplechase on day one, the Gold Cup on day two, and the Greatwood Hurdle Race on day three. Here, we consider the Gold Cup and the Greatwood Hurdle and look at which horses have gone well in previous races:

The Gold Cup Handicap Chase Previous Winners

Il Ridoto, under Freddie Gingell, won the 2024 Gold Cup Handicap Chase at the November meeting at Cheltenham. He set off at 10/1 and secured an impressive win for the Paul Nicholls stable. 9/2 pre-race favourite Ga Law under Gavin Sheehan finished second for Jamie Snowden.

It was third-time lucky for Il Ridoto, who finished fourth in 2022 and third in 2023. He triumphed by four and a half lengths and secured an impressive win for part-owner Sir Alex Ferguson, who was watching on.

The Greatwood Hurdle Race Previous Winners

Burdett Road secured the 2024 Greatwood Hurdle under Harry Cobden, marking the first win for trainer James Owen in this race. Burdett Road raced clear of Be Aware in an impressive and powerful display, with Cobden’s skill and experience enough to see him over the line.

It ended an impressive year for Burdett Road, who also won at Newmarket in listed company.
