PGL is one of the most noteworthy Esports production companies, based in Bucharest, Romania. The company is behind Esports tournaments such as the Counter-Strike Major Championships and the Dota 2 International.
Within the Counter-Strike ecosystem, PGL runs a handful of Masters events annually in different cities. In 2025, we’ve seen events in Cluj-Napoca, Bucharest, and Astana, with a final event occurring in Romania’s capital later this month.
The PGL Masters in Bucharest this October is the final event in the 2025 PGL Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) season, contested by sixteen of the world’s top Esports teams.
This tier one, offline tournament will take place at the PGL Studios in Bucharest, Romania, between October 24th and November 1st, 2025.
Sixteen teams have qualified for the PGL Masters event in Bucharest. All sixteen teams have been invited via the VRS ranking system, making this a test of many of the best CS2 teams on the planet, despite some of the big names being missing from the roster.
Below are the confirmed teams taking part in this event:
The PGL Masters is split into two stages – an initial group stage and a playoff round.
Stage one is a 16-team Swiss system format. All matches are best-of-three, and in the first phase, the top eight teams progress to the playoffs.
The playoff round is a single-elimination bracket with best-of-three matches. The last two teams standing will contest the grand final, the only best-of-five fixture in the tournament.

Given that some of the biggest names are missing from this event, including PGL Astana 2025 winners Team Spirit, it opens the door for some challengers to end the season on a high.
Four-time Counter-Strike major championship winners Astralis enter the PGL Masters as one of the favourites. They finished third at the PGL event in Cluj-Napoca earlier this year and second at PGL Astana. They’ll hope the third event of the year sees them go all the way.
Aurora Gaming has also shown promise in PGL events this year, as illustrated by their excellent third-place finish in Astana. They finished sixth last time in Bucharest at a PGL event, so they’ll hope to capitalise on the absence of Team Falcons and G2, the dominant sides last time in the Romanian capital.
A decent outside bet at PGL Bucharest is SAW, who surprised many by finishing fifth in the Cluj-Napoca event at the start of this year. The Portuguese Esports team followed their relative Cluj-Napoca success with a fourth-placed finish at Fissure Playground #1 in July, and may believe that they have what it takes to secure a top-three finish in Bucharest.
