22nd June 2024, Dortmund, 18:00 GMT

Euro 2016 winners Portugal will meet Turkey in their second match of the 2024 European Championship at the BVB Stadium in Dortmund.

At Parimatch, we’ve made Portugal the pre-game favourites to win and take a massive stride towards the round of 16.  But who are each team’s key players, and what Euro 2024 betting tips can we offer ahead of the match?

Group F: Turkey, Portugal, Czech Republic, Georgia.

Turkey v Portugal Betting Tips

Plenty of match betting markets are available ahead of the clash between Turkey and Portugal. But which of these offers the most value? Here are some insights:

  • No team scored more than Portugal’s tally of 36 goals during qualifying, with the indefatigable Cristiano Ronaldo notching ten by himself. Turkey also boast a potent goal threat in the form of Kerem Aktürkoğlu and Cenk Tosun, so get on over 2.5 goals being scored in this match.
  • Similarly, there’s value in backing both teams score at the BVB Stadium. Portugal have scored in 11 of their 12 previous matches, while Turkey drew just a single blank during qualifying.

A Look at This Fixture Through History

Although Portugal lost their first match against Turkey in December 1955, they’ve since dominated the head-to-head and won seven of the subsequent eight fixtures. This includes all three games contested in the 1996, 2000, and 2008 European Championship finals.

Portugal have also won all three encounters that have taken place during FIFA World Cup qualification. Conversely, Turkey’s two victories (in 1955 and 2012) came in international friendlies.

Turkey Man to Watch: Kerem Aktürkoğlu

25-year-old Galatasaray midfielder Kerem Aktürkoğlu enjoyed a superb season for the Turkish champions, scoring 15 goals in 49 appearances, including two crucial strikes against Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League.

A hard-running and creative player with an unerring eye for goal, he has notched five goals in 28 international caps since his debut in 2021. This haul includes two strikes during Euro 2024 qualification and an important winner against Armenia in the opening round of fixtures.

Portugal Man to Watch: Bruno Fernandes

While Cristiano Ronaldo may be a more obvious pick, Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes racked up six goals and eight assists in ten qualification matches. No player laid on more goals for their teammates during Euro 2024 qualifying, and Fernandes remains the creative fulcrum for Roberto Martínez’s side.

In his 64 international appearances, Fernandes has notched 20 goals and 19 assists, so Turkey will need to nullify the attacking midfielder at the BVB Stadium.
