UFC Fight Nights are more frequent than PPV bouts, allowing you to tune into the action via your cable subscription. But how are these fights different from title bouts, and what can you expect if you tune in and bet on a Fight Night?
Read on as we explain what UFC Fight Nights are and how you can bet on them by creating an account today at Parimatch.
What are UFC Fight Nights?
Since launching in 1993, the UFC promotion has hosted over 600 live events. Some have been headlined by title fights, while others have featured up-and-coming fighters with a point to prove.
The latter, known within the promotion as Fight Nights, allows punters to watch and bet on lower-ranked fighters who aren’t always in the spotlight.
Currently, most Fight Nights are broadcast via cable TV. They are not PPV events. In the United States, they are streamed on ESPN+. You can stream these events on Discovery+ and TNT Sports in the UK.
These events broaden the UFC audience, giving casual fans the opportunity to watch the action live without paying a significant one-off fee for a PPV event.
How are Fight Nights Different from Title Fights?
UFC title fights, also known as main events, feature the best pound-for-pound fighters in the promotion. The headline fight of every numbered UFC bout will likely be a title fight, and there can even be several titles in different weight classes up for grabs on the same night.
In other words, you’re paying a premium to watch the best fighters in the promotion defend or challenge for a title. Dana White also often includes numerous up-and-coming fighters with impressive records in the prelims, giving them a taste of the big time.
In terms of advertising, you can easily tell the difference between title PPV bouts and Fight Nights. Title fights will be advertised as UFC 350, for instance. These are always PPV events.
On the other hand, Fight Nights will be advertised as UFC 250: Fight Night. In the US, these nights are also advertised as UFC on ESPN+.
UFC Fight Night Schedules
Most UFC Fight Nights consist of 12 fights. Like the main PPV events, there will be a main event, perhaps a co-main event, a main card, and an undercard with prelims and early prelims.
This is a hierarchy. The lowest-ranked, newest, and out-of-form fighters will contest in the early prelims and prelims, while the main card will feature more experienced fighters.
The main event might be a title fight, though it’s more commonly contested by fighters coming back from injury or trying to return to the top after disappointing recent showings.
A perfect example of this is UFC Fight Night 250 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on February 1 2025. The main fight features Israel Adesanya against Nassourdine Imavov.
Adesanya is coming off the back of successive title-bout defeats against Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis. The former champion will contest his first non-title bout in over five years. If he wants to return to the top of the promotion, he must secure a convincing victory against Imavov in Saudi Arabia.
While there is typically one main PPV event each month, there are usually three or four Fight Nights. Many of these are hosted at UFC APEX in Las Vegas, but like the PPV events, they also take place at different venues worldwide.
