Well, the Cheltenham November meeting has arrived and everyone will have their eyes on one horse only. I am, of course, talking about the legendary Jonbon who makes his highly anticipated return in the four-field Shloer Chase. Nicky Henderson’s stable treasure makes his first start of this season, having vanquished the seemingly unbeatable El Fabiolo at Sandown last year.

In search of the NAP, we also have meetings at Newcastle, Southwell, Punchestown, Dundalk, and Wolverhampton, as well as Cheltenham.

NAP of the Day

With Jonbon’s price being so short, I must look elsewhere at Cheltenham for the NAP. I’m going to the race beforehand where Springwell Bay currently leads the markets. Admittedly, I’m always very wary of backing a Jonjo O’Neil favourite with the jockey often proving inconsistent in his rides. Springwell Bay did win well LTO but came up against a rather ill-prepared Insurrection camp. He also gives weight away to his opponent who I will be siding with today.

Buddy One was the most useful hurdler of the lot. He is a previous course winner, having won a handicapper last year. He also impressed in placing in a Stayer’s hurdle whilst coming a splendid second to Strong Leader at Aintree.

Although his jumping was less than impressive LTO, I will put it down to the fact that he needed the run. I will be siding with Buddy One once more.
