Next PL Manager to Go

With so many managerial changes each year, keeping up with the market can be difficult. Throughout the English football pyramid, more than 20 managers have lost their jobs this season already, with the following six changes in the Premier League in 2024/25:

Club   Outgoing Manager   Incoming Manager
Manchester United   Erik ten Hag   Ruben Amorim
Leicester City   Steve Cooper   Ruud van Nistelrooy
Wolverhampton Wanderers   Gary O’Neil   Vitor Pereira
Southampton   Russell Martin   Ivan Juric
West Ham United   Julen Lopetegui   Graham Potter
Everton   Sean Dyche   David Moyes

Ruud van Nistelrooy at Leicester and Ivan Juric at Southampton have endured torrid starts. Despite only recently taking their jobs, they are among the favourites to be the next Premier League managers to be sacked.

Given Tottenham’s disappointing campaign, Ange Postecoglou is another manager walking a tightrope. Enzo Maresca at Chelsea may also be looking over his shoulder, particularly if he misses out on UEFA Champions League qualification at the end of the campaign.

Below are the details of the Premier League managers most likely to lose their jobs next:

  • Ruud van Nistelrooy (Leicester City) – 8/11*
  • Ange Postecoglou (Tottenham Hotspur) – 5/2*
  • Ivan Juric (Southampton) – 4/1*
  • Enzo Maresca (Chelsea) – 12/1*
  • Ruben Amorim (Manchester United) – 20/1*

Next Permanent France Manager

Earlier this year, Didier Deschamps confirmed that he would step down as France manager at the end of the 2025 World Cup, ending his successful 14-year spell in charge of Les Bleus.

He won the 2018 FIFA World Cup and guided France to a second-place finish in Qatar in 2022. His side also won the UEFA Nations League in 2020-21 and finished second in EURO 2016. He will be hoping to bow out with another World Cup win in the USA in 2026.

Former Real Madrid manager and France’s 1998 World Cup-winning midfield maestro, Zinedine Zidane, is the hot favourite to take over from Deschamps, while Sir Gareth Southgate is also in the running. Here are the odds for the next permanent France manager at Parimatch:

  • Zinedine Zidane – 6/4*
  • Sir Gareth Southgate – 8/1*
  • Jose Mourinho – 10/1*
  • Pep Guardiola – 12/1*
  • Jurgen Klopp – 14/1*

Next Permanent Manchester City Manager

Manchester City have endured a tough season by their high standards, and Pep Guardiola might soon look elsewhere for a new challenge. The Spaniard has already written his name into the Premier League history books, but there’s a sense that this City team is at the end of a cycle and ready for a new head coach.

Who might that be? Well, current Girona boss Michel is the most likely candidate, having worked wonders at the club that is part of the City Group.

His tactical setup mirrors Guardiola’s, favouring a possession-based approach with high-intensity pressing. He would slot in well at City should Guardiola leave his role. Below are all the candidates most likely to take the job at Man City when Pep’s reign comes to an end:

  • Michel – 11/4*
  • Andoni Iraola – 3/1*
  • Xabi Alonso – 4/1*
  • Zinedine Zidane – 16/1*
  • Vincent Kompany – 16/1*

Next Permanent Real Madrid Manager

The rumour mill has been in full swing in Spain recently, with reports that Carlo Ancelotti has decided to leave Real Madrid. That said, he has publicly denied wanting to leave Spain’s biggest club, so he could still be in position at the end of this campaign.

If Ancelotti is to leave, Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso is the clear favourite to take the job. During his playing days at Real, he was mercurial in the centre of midfield and would surely be tempted to return to the club as the man in charge. Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is also being touted as a possible candidate for the top job at Real Madrid after Ancelotti, as you can see in the odds below:

  • Xabi Alonso – 5/4*
  • Andoni Iraola – 6/4*
  • Raul – 8/1*
  • Alvaro Arbeloa – 12/1*
  • Zinedine Zidane – 12/1*

Next Permanent Tottenham Hotspur Manager

Ange Postecoglou is still in charge at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and if he wins the Europa League, he will undoubtedly save his job in North London. But, if he oversees yet another trophyless season at Spurs, Daniel Levy may look to replace the popular Australian coach.

Again, Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola is in the frame, as is Spurs’ former boss Mauricio Pochettino. Given how well they have done at Fulham and Brentford, Thomas Frank or Marco Silva might be tempted to move across London if the opportunity arises. Below are the Parimatch odds for the next permanent Tottenham Hotspur manager:

  • Andoni Iraola – 2/1*
  • Mauricio Pochettino – 7/2*
  • Marco Silva – 4/1*
  • Thomas Frank – 4/1*
  • Kieran McKenna – 8/1*
