All eyes in the Counter-Strike Esports world will be on “the Paris of the East” as Bucharest hosts PGL 2025, the second major Counter-Strike event this year.

PGL Bucharest will attract 16 of the best Counter-Strike Esports teams in the world, who will be competing for a share of $1,250,000 in prize money.

MOUZ started the PGL season well with their victory at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025, but they aren’t one of the confirmed teams at the Bucharest event.

Join us as we preview PGL Bucharest 2025 and learn how to bet on Counter-Strike and other Esports tournaments at Parimatch Sportsbook.

Introducing PGL - Previewing the Bucharest Tournament

PGL Esports is a major European Esports production company based in Romania. It sees Bucharest as its flagship tournament for Counter-Strike players.

That said, PGL also organises tournaments within the Dota 2 ecosystem, among the most popular Esports in the world today.

Two other events are scheduled this year on the circuit after PGL Bucharest: PGL Astana and PGL Belgrade, in Kazakhstan and Serbia, respectively.

Earlier this season at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025, MOUZ won the event, with Team Falcons in second place. Astralis finished third.

Since NAVI, Vitality, and Spirit won’t compete at PGL Bucharest 2025, Astralis and Falcons will fancy their chances in the Romanian capital.

You can bet on Astralis, Falcons, or any other team to win PGL Bucharest by creating an account at Parimatch. We also offer markets for all fixtures throughout the tournament.

When is PGL Bucharest 2025?

PGL Bucharest 2025 will take place in Romania’s capital city between April 6th and April 13th. It is a Tier 1 event in the Counter-Strike ecosystem and will attract the biggest teams from each Counter-Strike region.

You can watch all the action live from PGL Bucharest via the organiser’s YouTube and Switch channels.

PGL Bucharest Format

Sixteen teams will compete at PGL Bucharest. There are two stages: the group stage and the playoff round. The group stage follows a Swiss system, and all matches are best of three. The top eight teams will make it to the playoffs.

In the playoffs, a single-elimination bracket format is followed, with all knockout matches in a best-of-three format. The final, however, is a best-of-five match.

PGL Bucharest Prize Money

As with all PGL events, there’s a lot of prize money at stake in Bucharest, with the teams sharing a prize pool of $1,250,000. Below are details of the prize money up for grabs, depending on each team’s finishing position in the standings:

Position  Prize Money
1  $400,000
2  $187,500
3  $150,000
4  $87,500
5-8  $62,500
9-11  $31,250
12-14  $18,750
15-16  $12,500

Which Teams Have Qualified for PGL Bucharest?

Sixteen teams have qualified for PGL Bucharest. However, the teams absent from the event are just as notable as those who have qualified.

Fans won’t be able to cheer on or place bets on NAVI, Vitality, or Spirit, as the top-three ranked teams have decided to skip this event. Also, PGL Cluj-Napoca champions MOUZ will not attend PGL Bucharest 2025, so there’s a good chance for the other teams to land the $400,000 in prize money.

With that in mind, below are the sixteen teams that have qualified for PGL Bucharest 2025:

  • Eternal Fire
  • G2
  • The MongolZ
  • FaZe
  • Falcons
  • Virtus.pro
  • Astralis
  • Liquid
  • paiN
  • GamerLegion
