Fatal Fury games have enjoyed a cult-like following since the early 1990s, but the 2025 release of the newest game in the series is the developer’s first Fatal Fury release this century.

Fans are incredibly excited that the new release will enter the world of Esports this year and debut at the 2025 World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, this summer.

So, read on for the lowdown on Fatal Fury betting at Parimatch Sportsbook and find out everything you need to know about this new and exciting game.

What is Fatal Fury?

Fatal Fury, or Garō Densetsu, is a fighting-themed video game from the Japanese studio SNK. The original game, Fatal Fury: King of Fighters, was released in November 1991 and was initially exclusively available on Neo Geo, a Japanese video game console.

However, due to the game’s massive popularity in Asia, it was released on other platforms, including PlayStation and Game Boy. Subsequent game releases, including the hugely popular Garou: Mark of the Wolves, have been released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Windows.

The latest game in the franchise, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, will be released on April 24th, 2025. It is the long-awaited follow-up to Mark of the Wolves and will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.

CR7: A Playable Character in the New Fatal Fury Game

The new game will have 17 playable characters, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Salvatore Ganacci. There will also be a few characters from Capcom’s Street Fighter, one of Fatal Fury’s main rivals in the fighting niche.

The move to include one of the greatest-ever football players in a fighting game follows Ronaldo’s announcement that he would be one of the main characters in the new free-to-play football game, UFL, which may take the Esports world by storm in years to come.

The move is also linked to Ronaldo’s relationship with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who was recently involved in buying a stake in the Japanese game developer SNK.

Ronaldo is said to have a great relationship with the prince, thanks to his current employment by Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, one of the country’s best football teams.

Fatal Fury at the 2025 Esports World Cup

In February of this year, it was announced that the new game in the Fatal Fury franchise, City of the Wolves, would be one of the games at the upcoming 2025 Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

It is a direct result of the partnership between SNK and the Esports World Cup Foundation, which will initially run for the game’s first three years.

This is significant, as it marks the new game’s first entry into Esports, into a huge tournament with a substantial prize pool. Fatal Fury will be one of 17 games at the 2025 World Cup.

It is also the first time that any Fatal Fury game will be played competitively, which is huge news for SNK and all fans of these much-loved games, which have been a massive hit in Asia since the early 1990s.

Fans of fighting games will be drawn to Fatal Fury, Tekken, and Street Fighter throughout the 2025 Esports World Cup, given that they are among the best fighting titles ever released.

We expect to see top-ranked teams like Team Falcons, Team Liquid, Team BDS, Team Vitality, T1, FaZe Clan, Gaimin Gladiators, Natus Vincere, G2 Esports, and Kwangdong Freecs go well in the Esports World Cup, and you can bet on all the action throughout the tournament at Parimatch.

Each game, including Fatal Fury: City of Wolves, will have its own independent qualification process. Up to 40 teams will compete in the World Cup, with the top eight teams from the 2024 Club Championship securing a direct invitation.

We also know that the prize pool for each game will be independently confirmed, with Dota 2 and PUBG Mobile confirming up to $3,000,000 in prize money for their respective contests.
