Backed by Valve, BLAST Rivals is a leading Esports tournament within the Counter-Strike ecosystem. It attracts the top professional Counter-Strike teams worldwide and is essentially the battle for supremacy among the elite teams.

In other words, it’s too big to miss if you’re an Esports fan. Read our complete BLAST Rivals Spring preview for the lowdown on this tournament and learn how to bet on Esports at Parimatch Sportsbook.

What is BLAST Rivals Esports?

BLAST Rivals is a Counter-Strike Esports contest featuring eight of the best teams in the CS ecosystem. The top four ranked teams qualify automatically, while four “elite” teams join by a special invitation.

The winner will be declared Rivals champion and write their name in history books as one of the top Counter-Strike outfits.

The BLAST format has been completely revamped in 2025, with Valve announcing a ban on unique business relationships between tournament organisers and teams. Therefore, Bounty tournaments have been added to the Opens and Rivals events, ensuring that the best teams make it to the major finals.

Below is the 2025 BLAST Esports calendar, including details of BLAST Rivals Spring:

When and Where is BLAST Rivals Spring?

There are two BLAST events in Spring, so don’t confuse them. The first is the BLAST Open, which runs from March 19th to March 24th. BLAST Rivals will follow the Open and will be the second major BLAST event in Spring. Though we don’t know which teams will compete in BLAST Rivals Spring, it will run from April 28th to May 4th.

This is an offline event at Escenario GNP Seguros in Monterrey, Mexico. The confirmed line-up will be known by the start of April, as all invitations will have been sent out by April 1st.

Which Teams Will Compete at BLAST Rivals Spring?

At the time of writing, we don’t know which teams will compete at BLAST Rivals Spring. That said, we know that the top four Valve-ranked teams will gain automatic entry into the tournament. Right now, that means Spirit, Vitality, The MongolZ, and MOUZ would gain automatic entry to BLAST Rivals Spring.

But with the Spring Open just around the corner, things could change considerably. So, we must wait for the confirmed line-up until the start of April.

In the meantime, here are the top 15 teams in the Valve rankings, so we can realistically expect eight of these squads to make it to the tournament in Mexico:

BLAST Rivals Spring Format

The competition will be played in two phases. The first stage will consist of two double-elimination format groups. Each group will have four teams, and all matches within the group will be best-of-three. The top three teams from each group progress to the playoff phase at the following stage:

  • The group winners proceed straight to the semi-finals.
  • The runners-up enter the quarter-finals as the high seeds.
  • The third-placed teams enter the quarter-finals as the low seeds.

The playoffs are single-elimination, with best-of-three matches in the quarter-finals and semi-finals. Then, the grand final between the top two teams will be best-of-five.
