Taylor v Serrano III Preview

Irish champion Katie Taylor is regarded as among the greatest pound-for-pound boxers ever. As an amateur, Taylor won gold at the 2012 London Olympics, and as a professional, she has a near-perfect record of 24 wins in 25 fights.  

Taylor’s solitary defeat came in 2023 against Chantelle Cameron in Dublin, Ireland, in her 23rd professional appearance. In July, she will face Serrano for the third time in her career.

Taylor beat Serrano for the first time at Madison Square Garden in April 2022, retaining the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring lightweight titles. She retained her light-welterweight titles against Serrano with a unanimous-decision win on the Paul v Tyson undercard in Texas in November last year.

Now, in their third meeting, Taylor and Serrano will headline the bout in this historic all-female card in New York City, in what might become the most-watched female boxing match of all time.

Serrano has only lost twice in her career, and two of these defeats have come at the hands of Taylor. She will be looking to knock out the Irish star in this trilogy fight, as 31 of her 47 professional wins have come via this method.

If the fight goes the distance, we expect Taylor to win. But given her history and explosive power, Serrano is the most likely of the two fighters to win by KO.
