Jake Paul returns to the boxing ring for the first time following his unanimous decision victory over Mike Tyson last November. The controversial influencer and boxer will face the former WBC middleweight champion, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., in a Most Valuable Promotions fight card.
Paul is a better fighter than his critics claim, but he will face a stern test against Chavez Jr., who recorded 34 wins by KO in an impressive professional career that spanned weight classes.

Jake Paul v Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Preview
Paul and Chavez Jr. will go head-to-head in California at the end of June, with a weight limit of 200 lbs. Paul wanted to face Canelo Alvarez, but the bout never materialised following months of back and forth between the two camps.
As the younger man, Paul is the favourite, but like the Mike Tyson bout at the end of last year, Chavez Jr. would be the undisputed winner if these two met at the height of Chavez’s powers.
Chavez Jr. fought across weight classifications from super featherweight to cruiserweight, with an impressive record of 54 wins from 62 fights. He only lost six bouts in his professional career and held the WBC middleweight title from 2011 to 2012.
Most of Chavez’s losses came later in his career, and he went 46 fights unbeaten before suffering his first professional defeat. His first loss was in September 2012, when he was beaten by Sergio Martinez by unanimous decision.
He essentially hung up the gloves in 2021, though he returned to the ring to face Uriah Hall in an exhibition fight in 2024. His fight against Paul will be only his second appearance since 2021, and his performance will be tied to his condition.
On the other hand, Paul has been active in the ring this decade, following his debut in January 2020. He has won 11 of his 12 fights, his only defeat coming to Tommy Fury in 2023.
The 28-year-old is 11 years younger than Chavez Jr., and as he proved against Tyson last November, condition and youth are super important in boxing.
We have Paul as the favourite going into this one, but if these two met at the height of Chavez’s career in 2011 to 2012, it would be a different story.
